VALLADOLID (Spain), 3 march 2017 (FASHION BLOGGER: MODEL CITIZEN)
I publish the interview proposed by the Australian Fashion Magazine Model Citizen. It was a pleasure to enjoy all the creative process. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to promote http://biombo.org in a mass media. And my most sincere gratitude to the designer Susana Miller, from El Vestidor de Susa, and to the photographer Chiqui Zulueta, to make possible this interview and also for their way of being: enthusiastic, creative, charming, helpful and gorgeous professionals from my dear town, Valladolid (Spain). I hope you like the results as much as we do and that you find useful the content we have prepared with lots of love in homage to culture and to all the creative people who follow their dreams.
- Tell us something about you.
I consider myself a person with creativity, initiative, perseverance and a great curiosity to learn new things every day. I feel especially interested in meeting talented people, knowing their passions and dreams and contributing with my work to promote culture, because I believe it is the core of each society. Is this way of being that has led to me to the creation of biombo.org.
“CULTURE IS THE CORE OF EACH SOCIETY”
2. What do you blog about and how do you decide the article that you are writing?
The Biombo is a blog focused on people. Each person has at least a passion, a work and a dream, and mass media is more specialized in people that are already famous. But what happens with the talented people in need of promotion that are not public people? This blog tries, through personalized interviews and advertising campaigns in social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to promote people that have something to share with the world.
“THE BIOMBO IS A BLOG FOCUSED ON PEOPLE. EACH PERSON HAS AT LEAST A PASSION, A WORK AND A DREAM”.
Inspiration comes through my atmosphere. When I get to know a person and I become interested in what he or she is doing, I just contact this person and propose some questions. And then I distribute the interviews in time, finding the perfect date for each of them, depending on what they are talking about. In addition, any person can send a self-interview through email@example.com.
“INSPIRATION COMES THROUGH MY ATMOSPHERE”
- We know that finding a topic is hard. How do you get inspired?
Biombo.org promotes several categories of culture. Nowadays, these categories are: fashion, photography, music, theatre, cinema, art, literature, gastronomy, law and entrepreneurship. So I feel my inspiration in culture. I am very lucky because there are many talented people around me involved in culture, so I do not find it that hard to be inspired by them. Unfortunately, I find more difficult to get time for blogging, because I am studying Law almost full-time at the same time, and making something from the heart, personalized and caring about high-quality results, take you much time. But I love it, so in the end everything comes natural.
- What was the hardest part starting a blog and how did you overcome it?
Well, I have to say it has been quite easy to start it. I was doubting about the web hosting, but in the end I decided WordPress was the best option. Then, the idea and the name just came up some day I was thinking about my own passion, that was discovering and sharing news with people. “Biombo” is in Spanish a room divider, so I use this word to express I want to show up the invisible things we don’t know about others until we ask them. And then I was lucky because I found interviewees quickly, as I have friends and colleagues dedicated to many categories of culture, full of professional photographs and interesting things to share, so in the end it is a matter of building up a strong community.
- What was your most read blog?
I started my first contact with blogs through social media and friends. Friends such as Oscar Gonzalez and Lucía Soto were part of my inspiration, because they were thinking of creating a blog, and also famous people with great blogs I follow with great interest in ELLE Spain, such as Sara Carbonero and Raquel del Rosario, and also the one of Alexandra Pereira in Lovely Pepa. Especially Instagram contributed to this idea, where I started thanks to my colleague Juan Carcamo, because of the great importance it gives to photographs, standing out this way El Vestidor de Susa, Blake Lively’s and Elsa Pataky’s. In addition, I have to mention as the precedent of biombo.org El Periódico de ELSA Valladolid, a local law students’ newspaper I founded during my university studies in Valladolid, based on this mainly Anglo-Saxon tradition I discovered in Liverpool.
- What are your pieces of advice for bloggers who are just starting
“Let your passion be your guide”. Starting a blog is a fantastic idea that will change your life for sure. It will lead you to get to know incredible people, find out amazing matters and fill your life of happiness. So first of all, find a topic you love, so that you always have inspiration and motivation to write, meet a lot of people asking for advice and collaboration and make them part of your blog, and buy a website and care about your image. Moreover, I think it is a good choice to make a further research about blogs. For instance, I am reading this book about blogging right now that I consider of big interest: Blogging for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community. I started my blog the 9th October 2016 and I am very satisfied with how is it going, so I completely support you to go ahead.
“LET YOUR PASSION BE YOUR GUIDE”.
- How do people benefit from reading your articles?
Nice question. I guess each person will take a different thing from biombo.org because it is a matter of interests. Some people will enjoy the photos, some others the information about different cultural aspects, some others will find out new people of their interest, some others the possibility of advertising. But what it is sure is that all of them will find a place full of communication, creativity, passion, synergy, desire to improve and always open to participation.
- Tell us your most successful story as a fashion blogger?
I think the most successful story is precisely the opportunity to be promoted in this wonderful fashion magazine, thanks to this interview proposed by Model Citizen, mainly for three reasons.
- The first is because it has allowed me to strengthen the bonds with Susana Miller and Chiqui Zulueta, two people whose work I admire and appreciate, and to be able to introduce myself in the fashion world, participating in a professional photograph session and to live in person how does it feel to be part of fashion talent.
- The second reason is the possibility to show up why it is good to read, to promote and to be part of biombo.org.
- And last but not least, to foster biombo.org in an amazing English speaking country such as Australia, because Spanish and English are among the three most popular languages in the world, and it would be a dream that millions of people could be involved in the projects of biombo.org.
“BIOMBO.ORG ALLOWS ME TO WORK WITH PEOPLE WITH GREAT ARTISTIC TALENT”.
- What are expecting from you in the future?
Wow, I have many projects in mind. It will all depend on opportunities, time and resources. My priority right now is finding a job to have economy independence, so that I can make my own investments. Then, I would love to continue creating a calendar with the 12 interviewees most read every year (the first one was in 2017), and to create more merchandising such as agendas, notebooks, folders, pens, bookmarks and postcards.
In addition, I would like to catch the attention of more sponsors to join Biombo.org in order to develop several projects for the blog, such as the organization of a The Biombo Prizes Gala to recognize and promote talented people interviewed in the blog at the end of every year. Finally, I would also like to organize dinners with special guests.
“I HAVE MANY PROJECTS IN MIND. IT WILL ALL DEPEND ON OPPORTUNITIES, TIME AND RESOURCES”.
- What article are you sharing with us?
I share with you the article about SUSANA MILLER, because she is a great fashion designer with a cosy fashion shop I love. Moreover, this article is full of beautiful photographs taken by Chiqui Zulueta. I appreciate them a lot and I feel very identified with them, because they are even more enthusiastic, creative and dreamers than me!
“SUSANA MILLER AND CHIQUI ZULUETA ARE EVEN MORE ENTHUSIASTIC, CREATIVE AND DREAMERS THAN ME!”
